Alabeo’s Staggerwing at simMarket

111635_22The D-17 Staggerwing is one of those aircraft whose appeal stretches across generations. The unusual wing arrangement gives it a look unlike any other aircraft and the luxury interior is perfect for those long cross-country cruises just because you’re rich enough to afford that level of quality and comfort.

…did I say rich? Well. If you already own a Windows PC, MS FSX or L-M Prepar3D and suitable controls, this Staggerwing from Alabeo is under €20 to add to your hangar. The product page is a bit light on information, but if the picture above alone doesn’t entice you to buy, there are more of both the interior and exterior available to try and complete the sales pitch… Click here to see them.

Airport Madness heads back in time

Airport Madness, the slightly less than completely serious ATC game, has turned back the clock for its latest release, “Time Machine“, allowing you to grow a small grass field in 1925 to a thriving international hub in 1970. That’s not all, however. If you want to suspend disbelief a little, there’s also an “1802 Steampunk” era option.

In what we think is a first for simMarket, the free cut-down version of the game can actually be played directly on the product page in your browser – a word of warning, though – the sound can be a little loud, so if you’re in a library or something, you might want to mute before clicking on the link!

Lionheart’s Fairchild 24, now available

111387_lionheart_fairchild24_08If you follow Lionheart Creations‘ William Ortis on social media, you may well be aware that he hit a minor snag with this one a short while ago, as well as the fact that as a subject aircraft, the Fairchild 24 is an aircraft close to his heart – his parents restored an example from rotting to flight in the 1960s.

Now, however, we’re pleased to be able to announce that it is available for the rest of us to fly as well – in the simulated worlds of FSX and P3D, at least

The package comes with… “a number”… of variants (37, to be precise!), covering models with and without wheel spats, on floats, inline or radial engines, bush aircraft, military airframes; you won’t be stuck for choices with this one! Also included are vintage instrumentation including an ASI switchable between scales and much to much more to list here – take a look at the product page for full details and to purchase a copy.

Orbx Scotland preview screenshots

NiKsJOrbx‘s usual preview suspect Ian Emms has been been up and around the virtual skies again, this time touring the highlands and cities of of the upcoming Orbx/SIM720 FTX EU Scotland add-on.

Ian has posted two threads on the orbx forums, one showing the Scottish capital city of Edinburgh and its surrounds, the other a more general tour with, unsurprisingly, quite a lot of lumps and bumps on display.

Fly The Maddog Pro SP2

Fly_the_maddog_VC

The maddog pilots will welcome the new Service Pack 2 for their Fly The Maddog Professional. Leonardo SH explains it will enable the compatibility with Windows 8, and sort out the Administrator mode.

The team manager is also looking for a 3D designer to provide another upgrade with a new virtual cockpit “fully compliant FSX”. I guess with much more details / polygons and high resolution textures.
